Simon’s Sportswear to stop using “Clover” and “Mountain” colors in 2020
Simon’s has pulled all trademarks from its clothing line.
The company is taking the iconic “Clove” and Mountain colors out of its catalog in the spring.
The move follows complaints from fans of the sportswearing brand that the brand was using “Mole” and other non-Clover-like colors in its sports apparel.
Simon’s also plans to stop marketing products with “M” and a “C” in the brand name, the company said in a statement.
It has already stopped selling sports apparel featuring “Cape Cod,” “Dodger” and many other sports brands.
The “Clive” and mountain-themed designs have been popular for years, and the company has a large following of men, women and kids.
“Simon’s Sport Swear is committed to the brands that we are all passionate about and is proud to be a part of the Simon’s family,” Simon’s spokesman Rob Lea said in the statement.
The decision comes after a backlash against the company from its loyal fans.
A group of fans in the United Kingdom launched an online petition calling on Simon’s to pull the clothing.
In an email to supporters, Lea wrote that the “clove and mountain colors will be discontinued in 2020.”
“Simon is proud of our brand and of our customers,” he said.
“However, we need to be clear on this: The company will no longer use the ‘Clove’ and ‘Mountain’ colors in future products.”
